The applied science of maintaining the earth's biological diversity, also known as conservation biology, is an interdepartmental activity at the University of Maine. One of the first Wildlife programs in the nation, the Department of Wildlife Ecology's page describes its graduate degree programs, research activities, faculty, and wildlife management. As a division of the College of Natural Resources, Forestsry and Agriculture, the department puts on seminars for students and faculty. There are also a variety of links to resources about the animals of Maine, from mammals and invertebrates to rare, exotic, and backyard species. Imagine studying whales or population dynamics of migrant birds or habitat requirements of wildlife, go to this site and let your education begin.
